ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: proclaiming the week of June 22 to June 28, 2025, as Amateur Radio Week in the state of Wisconsin.
Whereas, Wisconsin is home to over 11,000 amateur radio operators, commonly known as “hams,” who have been a vital part of our communities, providing reliable communication support during emergencies and public service events; and
Whereas, Wisconsin’s numerous amateur radio clubs have been instrumental in promoting technical education, community service, and emergency preparedness throughout the state; and
Whereas, amateur radio operators in Wisconsin partner with organizations such as ARES (Amateur Radio Emergency Service), RACES (Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service), and local emergency management agencies to provide dependable backup communications during times of crisis, ensuring public safety and continuity of service when traditional systems fail; and
Whereas, the American Radio Relay League (ARRL), the leading organization for amateur radio in the U.S., has designated June 22 to 28, 2025, as Amateur Radio Week to recognize the contributions of amateur radio operators nationwide; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin State Legislature proclaims the week of June 22 to June 28, 2025, as Amateur Radio Week in Wisconsin and commends the state’s amateur radio operators for their dedication and service to the community.
