ENROLLED JOINT RESOLUTION
Relating to: congratulating Knights of Columbus Council 499 for achieving a century of compassionate commitment to service of the Church, their community, and their fellow man.
Whereas, Knights of Columbus Council 499 is celebrating 125 years of support of the Catholic Church and the community at large by exemplifying the principles of charity, unity, fraternity, and patriotism; and
Whereas, Council 499’s distinguished history began on June 17, 1900, when it became the first Knights of Columbus council established in Wisconsin, and with its highly esteemed Grand Knight, William Dwyer, the charter members of Council 499 provided the necessary guidance for establishing local councils throughout the state and Midwest region; and
Whereas, today, the 105 members of Council 499 remain true to the mission of charity through countless hours of volunteer service, which provides much needed financial resources to such worthy causes as Cathedral School and parish education programs of St. Anthony in Lake Nebagamon and St. Francis Xavier and St. Anthony in Superior as well as the Challenge Center, which serves adults with developmental disabilities, and disaster relief funds to assist families and individuals who have been struck by tragedy; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin Legislature does hereby congratulate Knights of Columbus Council 499 for achieving a century of compassionate commitment to service of the Church, their community, and their fellow man.
