March 13, 1996 - Introduced by Representatives Skindrud, Green, Travis,
Baldwin, Hanson, Black
and Kelso, cosponsored by Senators Risser and
Zien. Referred to Committee on State Affairs.
AB1010,1,3 1An Act to create 125.33 (2) (hr) of the statutes; relating to: allowing a brewer
2or alcohol beverage wholesaler to contribute things of value to certain nonprofit
3corporations.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, no brewer or alcohol beverage wholesaler may directly or
indirectly furnish, give, lend, lease or sell any equipment, fixtures, supplies, money
or any other thing of value to any person who holds a license for the retail sale of
fermented malt beverages for consumption on the premises where sold (fermented
malt beverage retailer). Nor may a brewer or alcohol beverage wholesaler provide
any thing of value to another person for the use, benefit or relief of a fermented malt
beverage retailer. The statutes contain numerous specific exceptions to these
prohibitions.
This bill allows a brewer or alcohol beverage wholesaler to contribute money or
other things of value to, or for the benefit of, a nonprofit corporation that conducts
festivals or other events in a 2nd class city having a population of 90,000 or more if
the festival or event is endorsed by the governing body of that city.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB1010, s. 1 4Section 1. 125.33 (2) (hr) of the statutes is created to read:
