AB1046,1,3 1An Act to create 30.725 of the statutes; relating to: placing and using boats and
2boating equipment, and placing boat trailers, with zebra mussels attached in
3the Lower St. Croix River.

Under this bill, a person may not have a boat, boat trailer or boating equipment
in the Lower St. Croix River if the person has reason to believe that the boat,
equipment or trailer has zebra mussels attached. The bill also authorizes law
enforcement officers, including conservation wardens, to require that a person
remove zebra mussels from a boat, boat trailer or boating equipment before placing
the boat, trailer or equipment in the water or to require that a person remove a boat,
trailer or equipment from the water.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB1046, s. 1 4Section 1. 30.725 of the statutes is created to read:
AB1046,1,8 530.725 Placement of boats, trailers and equipment; Lower St. Croix
6River.
(1) No person may place or use a boat or boating equipment or place a boat
7trailer in the Lower St. Croix River if the person has reason to believe that the boat,
8boat trailer or boating equipment has zebra mussels attached.

1(2) A law enforcement officer may order a person to do any of the following:
AB1046,2,32 (a) Remove zebra mussels from a boat, boat trailer or boating equipment before
3placing it in the Lower St. Croix River.
AB1046,2,64 (b) Remove or not place a boat, boat trailer or boating equipment in the Lower
5St. Croix River if the law enforcement officer has reason to believe that the boat, boat
6trailer or boating equipment has zebra mussels attached.
AB1046,2,8 7(3) No person may refuse to obey the order of a law enforcement officer who is
8acting under sub. (2).
