2rehabilitation program.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the veterans rehabilitation program is available to persons
who served in the U.S. armed forces or forces incorporated as part of the U.S. armed
forces on active duty under honorable conditions in certain war periods or who
received certain medals. The program provides medical, education, employment and
housing services to rehabilitate veterans who need these services based on
homelessness or incarceration. This bill expands the persons eligible under the
program to any person who has served in the U.S. armed forces or forces incorporated
as part of the U.S. armed forces. The bill allows the department of veterans affairs
to provide grants for the provision of services under the program.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
