2principals.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
The administrative rules promulgated by the state superintendent of public
instruction currently provide for 2 levels of school principal licensure, with different
requirements for each level. The "elementary/middle level" principal license permits
the holder to serve as a principal in an elementary (grades 1 to 6), elementary/middle
(grades 1 to 9) or middle (grades 5 to 9) level school. The "middle/secondary level"
principal license permits the holder to serve as a principal in a middle,
middle/secondary (grades 6 to 12) or secondary (grades 9 to 12) level school.
This bill provides that a school principal license must authorize the individual
to serve as a principal for any grade level.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
