1995 - 1996 LEGISLATURE
June 6, 1995 - Introduced by Representatives Underheim, Lehman, Olsen,
Goetsch, Urban, Baldus, Albers, Robson, Ott
and Grothman, cosponsored by
Senators Rude, Buettner and Schultz. Referred to Committee on Health.
AB430,1,2 1An Act to amend 448.05 (5r) of the statutes; relating to: the requirements for
2persons applying for a certificate as a respiratory care practitioner.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, an applicant for a certificate to practice respiratory care
must submit evidence to the medical examining board (board) that he or she
graduated from a school with a course of instruction in respiratory care. The course
of instruction in respiratory care must be approved by the joint review committee for
respiratory therapy education of the American medical association (AMA). This bill
eliminates the requirement that an applicant's course of instruction in respiratory
care be approved by the joint review committee for respiratory therapy education of
the AMA and instead requires that the course of instruction be approved by the
commission on accreditation of allied health education programs of the AMA.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB430, s. 1 3Section 1. 448.05 (5r) of the statutes is amended to read:
