and Kaufert, cosponsored by Senator Moen. Referred to Committee

AB479,1,2 1An Act to amend 448.05 (5m) (a) 1. of the statutes; relating to: the
2requirements for persons applying for a certificate as an occupational therapist.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, an applicant for a certificate to practice occupational
therapy must submit evidence to the medical examining board (board) that he or she
has successfully completed the academic requirements and supervised internship
requirement of an education program in occupation therapy. The education program
in occupational therapy must be recognized by the board and accredited by the
committee on allied health education and accreditation of the American medical
association (committee) and the American occupational therapy association (AOTA).
This bill eliminates the requirement that an applicant's education program be
accredited by the committee and AOTA and instead requires that the education
program be accredited by the accreditation council for occupational therapy
education of AOTA.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB479, s. 1 3Section 1. 448.05 (5m) (a) 1. of the statutes is amended to read:
