1995 - 1996 LEGISLATURE
August 28, 1995 - Introduced by Law Revision Committee. Referred to Committee
on Highways and Transportation.
AB525,1,2 1An Act to repeal 346.55 (2); and to amend 346.50 (1) (intro.) and 346.56 (2) of
2the statutes; relating to: displaying a vehicle for sale upon a highway.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law prohibits any person from stopping or leaving upon a highway any
vehicle displayed for sale. A person who violates this prohibition may be subject to
a forfeiture of not less than $30 nor more than $300.
This bill eliminates this provision of state law, thereby permitting a person to
stop or leave standing upon a highway a vehicle displayed for sale.
For further information, see the Notes provided by the law revision committee
of the joint legislative council.
Law revision committee prefatory note: This bill is introduced by the law revision
committee under s. 13.83 (1) (c) 1., stats. After careful consideration of the court of
appeals' decision in City of Milwaukee v. Blondis, 157 Wis. 2d 730, 460 N.W.2d 815 (1990),
the law revision committee has determined that codifying the decision is desirable as a
