1995 - 1996 LEGISLATURE
October 27, 1995 - Introduced by Representatives Handrick, Urban, Wasserman,
Ainsworth, Albers, Goetsch, Hahn, Klusman, Ladwig, Robson
and Silbaugh.
Referred to Committee on Insurance, Securities and Corporate Policy.
AB650,1,2 1An Act to repeal 146.905 of the statutes; relating to: removing the prohibition
2against reducing provider fees.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, a health care provider or a pharmacist who provides a
service or a product to an individual with coverage under a health insurance policy
may not reduce or eliminate a copayment or a deductible that is required under the
policy, or offer to do so, unless payment of the total fee would impose an undue
financial hardship on the individual. This bill repeals the prohibition against
reducing or eliminating a copayment or a deductible altogether.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB650, s. 1 3Section 1. 146.905 of the statutes is repealed.
