2receiving telegraphs.

Under current law, no person connected with a telegraph company may give
unlawful preference in the sending, transmitting or receiving of telegraph messages
or fail or neglect to give preference to dispatches or messages in the order of receipt.
This bill eliminates this prohibition.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB844, s. 1 3Section 1. 134.36 of the statutes is amended to read:
AB844,2,2 4134.36 (title) Telegraph; divulging message; preference in sending, etc.
5Any officer or other person connected with, or in the business or management of, any
6telegraph company doing business in this state who shall divulge or communicate
7any telegraph message or dispatch or the substance or any part thereof, except to the
8person entitled to receive the same, or who shall give unlawful preference in the
9sending, transmitting or receiving of telegraph messages or dispatches, or shall
10wilfully fail or neglect to give preference to dispatches or messages in the order of

1time in which applications are received
shall be punished by imprisonment in the
2county jail not more than one year or by fine not exceeding $500.
