AB898,1,2 1An Act to amend 165.015 (1) of the statutes; relating to: allowing a sheriff to
2ask for an attorney general's opinion.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the attorney general is required to give his or her opinion
on questions of law submitted to him or her by the legislature as a whole, by either
house of the legislature, by the senate or assembly committee on organization or by
the head of any department of state government. Under this bill, the attorney
general is also required to give his or her opinion on questions of law submitted to
him or her by a sheriff.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB898, s. 1 3Section 1. 165.015 (1) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB898,1,84 165.015 (1) Give opinion to officers. Give his or her opinion in writing, when
5required, without fee, upon all questions of law submitted to him or her by the
6legislature, by either house thereof or of the legislature, by the senate or assembly
7committee on organization, or by the head of any department of state government or
8by a sheriff
