AB92,1,2 1An Act to amend 21.48 (1) of the statutes; relating to: increasing the minimum
2pay provided to national guard members and making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the minimum base pay for a member of the national guard
on active duty in the state is $50 per day. This bill raises that minimum base pay to
$75 effective on July 1, 1995, and to $100 beginning on July 1, 1996. On July 1, 1997,
and on each July 1 thereafter, the minimum daily base pay shall be increased by the
percentage increase in the consumer price index for all urban consumers during the
12 months preceding that July 1.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB92, s. 1 3Section 1. 21.48 (1) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB92,2,44 21.48 (1) Each officer and enlisted person of the Wisconsin national guard on
5active duty in the state under orders of the governor on a state pay basis shall receive
6the base pay and allowances of an officer or enlisted person of equal rank in the
7corresponding branch of the U.S. armed forces except that the base pay so provided
8shall not be less than $50 $75 per day, effective on July 1, 1995. Beginning on July
91, 1996, the base pay shall not be less than $100 per day. On July 1, 1997, and on

1every July 1 thereafter, the minimum daily base pay shall be increased by the same
2percentage as the percentage increase in the consumer price index for all urban
3consumers, U.S. city average, for the 12-month period ending on the preceding June

AB92,2,10 6(1) In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for the
7appropriation to the department of military affairs under section 20.005 (3) of the
8statutes, as affected by the acts of 1995, the dollar amount is increased by $12,800
9for fiscal year 1995-96 and the dollar amount is increased by $28,200 for fiscal year
101996-97 to provide increased minimum daily base pay to national guard members.
