AJR43,1,1 1Relating to: the bombing of the federal building in Oklahoma City.
AJR43,1,42 Whereas, on April 19, 1995, at 9:02 a.m. the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building
3in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, was destroyed and the lives of hundreds of innocent
4people were altered forever by this senseless act of violence; and
AJR43,1,65 Whereas, over 150 people, many of whom were children, lost their lives in the
6bombing and countless more were injured; and
AJR43,1,97 Whereas, 2 of these victims spent part of their lives in Wisconsin: Peter De
8Master, formerly of Sheboygan, and Julie Welch, a 1994 graduate of Marquette
9University; and
AJR43,1,1110 Whereas, this was an attempt to destroy the very fabric of our American
11heritage and replace it with fear and intolerance; and
AJR43,1,1412 Whereas, instead this tragedy has brought the nation closer together as we
13mourn for the victims and comfort their families, applaud the heroism of the rescuers
14and attempt to bring the culprits to justice; and
AJR43,1,1715 Whereas, in this time of mourning the citizens of Wisconin remember a similar
16act of violence that occurred on the University of Wisconsin-Madison campus during
17the Vietnam War; and

1Whereas, our hearts go out to all of the citizens of the state of Oklahoma in their
2time of healing; now, therefore, be it
AJR43,2,7 3Resolved by the assembly, the Senate concurring, That the members of the
4Wisconsin legislature express their heartfelt condolences to the families and friends
5of the victims and to all of the citizens of Oklahoma, wish a speedy recovery to those
6injured in the blast and commend those individuals who risked their lives in the
7rescue effort; and, be it further
AJR43,2,9 8Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
9resolution to the state legislature of Oklahoma.
