AJR48,1,32 Whereas, Wisconsin, "America's Dairyland", is 2nd in the nation in the amount
3of milk produced, amounting to 14.6% of the nation's milk production; and
AJR48,1,54 Whereas, income from the sale of milk from Wisconsin's 1.5 million dairy cows
5was 56% of Wisconsin's total cash receipts in 1993 from farm marketing; and
AJR48,1,76 Whereas, Wisconsin manufactures 30% of the nation's cheese and 23% of the
7nation's butter; and
AJR48,1,138 Whereas, American cheese is the leading type of cheese made in Wisconsin,
9accounting for 30% of the nation's American cheese; Italian is Wisconsin's 2nd
10leading cheese variety, accounting for 31% of the nation's Italian cheese; and
11Wisconsin produces 60% of the nation's Muenster cheese, 65% of the Brick cheese,
1283% of the Blue cheese, 18% of the Swiss cheese and 100% of the Limburger cheese;

AJR48,1,1514 Whereas, Wisconsin produces a large variety of milk by-products, including
15condensed and dry milk and whey products; and
AJR48,2,216 Whereas, dairying provides $2.9 billion to Wisconsin's farm income, the
17processing of dairy products employs almost 17,000 people in Wisconsin, 37% of

2manufacture one or more dairy products; now, therefore, be it
AJR48,2,7 3Resolved by the assembly, the Senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
4legislature commends the untiring efforts of all dairy farmers, their families and the
5entire dairy industry who, even in adverse weather and economic hardships,
6efficiently supply the state and the nation with nature's most perfect food, milk, and
7many delicious dairy products; and, be it further
AJR48,2,9 8Resolved, That it is the intent of the Wisconsin legislature to keep Wisconsin
9dairying and the dairy industry strong, vibrant and number one in the nation.
