AJR70,1,32 Whereas, Major General Jerald Slack, the Adjutant General of Wisconsin, will
3retire during January 1996; and
AJR70,1,54 Whereas, he was born on February 14, 1936, and earned a degree in civil
5engineering from Bradley University; and
AJR70,1,76 Whereas, he began his military career by enlisting in the Illinois Air National
7Guard in 1959, and he transferred to the Wisconsin Air National Guard in 1961; and
AJR70,1,98 Whereas, due to his administrative ability and his acquisition of skills by
9means of training, he rose rapidly through the ranks; and
AJR70,1,1010 Whereas, he was appointed adjutant general on December 21, 1989; and
AJR70,1,1211 Whereas, before his appointment as adjutant general, he was the administrator
12of the division of facilities management in the Department of Administration; and
AJR70,1,1513 Whereas, he is a member of the Legion of Merit and was awarded the
14Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Force Commendation Medal, the Air Force
15Organizational Excellence Award and numerous other medals; and
AJR70,1,1716 Whereas, he was promoted to major general on August 3, 1990; now, therefore,

1Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
2legislature of the state of Wisconsin commend Major General Jerald Slack for his
3decades of meritorious service to this state as the epitome of a citizen-soldier and
4wish him a long, healthy and happy retirement; and, be it further
AJR70,2,6 5Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
6resolution to Major General Jerald Slack.
