SB10,1,2 An Act to amend 153.48 of the statutes; relating to: requiring hospitals to use a uniform reporting system, rather than a uniform accounting system.

Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau

Under current law, hospitals must use a uniform accounting system for each fiscal year of a hospital that begins after March 31, 1994. The system must be developed by the office of health care information (OHCI) and specified in rules promulgated by the commissioner of insurance. Currently, OHCI must require hospitals to submit certain information that is necessary for reports produced by OHCI concerning health care data, small area analysis, uncompensated health care services, mortality and morbidity and certain charges and revenues.

This bill requires hospitals to use the uniform reporting system, rather than a uniform accounting system, that is developed by OHCI and specified in rules promulgated by the commissioner of insurance.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows:

SB10, s. 1 Section 1. 153.48 of the statutes is amended to read:

SB10,2,2 153.48 (title) Uniform accounting reporting system. For each fiscal year of a hospital that begins after March 31, 1994 the effective date of this section .... [revisor inserts date], the hospital shall use a the uniform accounting reporting system that is developed by the office and specified in rules promulgated by the commissioner.
