SJR2,1,1 1Relating to: supporting the veterans rehabilitation program.
SJR2,1,42 Whereas, the department of veterans affairs has launched a new statewide
3veterans rehabilitation program in partnership with the U.S. department of
4veterans affairs; and
SJR2,1,75 Whereas, local organizations, including the Center for Veterans Issues and the
6Milwaukee County Social Development Commission are supporting the veterans
7rehabilitation program; and
SJR2,1,98 Whereas, Vets Place Central was recently opened in Milwaukee as a facility to
9provide services under the veterans rehabilitation program; and
SJR2,1,1210 Whereas, a veterans rehabilitation center opened in November, 1994, at Fort
11McCoy and additional centers under the program are planned for the Fox River
12Valley, Madison and Superior; and
SJR2,1,1513 Whereas, each veterans rehabilitation center will assist homeless veterans to
14obtain the services that they need to gain employment and housing, including job
15training and education, counseling, health care and drug and alcohol treatment; and

1Whereas, up to 10,000 Wisconsin veterans are homeless or at risk of becoming
2homeless because they are unemployed or underemployed; now, therefore, be it
SJR2,2,6 3Resolved by the senate, the Assembly concurring, That the department of
4veterans affairs, the U.S. department of veterans affairs and the local organizations
5working with these departments are saluted by the people of Wisconsin for the work
6that they have done to make the veterans rehabilitation program a success.
