SJR48,1,1 1Relating to: commemorating the 3000th anniversary of Jerusalem.
SJR48,1,42 Whereas, in 1996, the city of Jerusalem will commemorate its trimillennium,
3marking the 3,000th anniversary of King David's establishment of Jerusalem as the
4eternal capital of the Jewish nation; and
SJR48,1,85 Whereas, for the past 3,000 years, the city of Jerusalem has been a site of
6pilgrimage and a source of inspiration to artists and visionaries, calling forth
7religious longing and artistic creativity in all ages and in all continents around the
8globe; and
SJR48,1,129 Whereas, the trimillennium will offer an opportunity to support the efforts of
10the city of Jerusalem to preserve and protect its unique historic and religious
11character while developing it as a modern city for the benefit of all of its residents
12and its many visitors; and
SJR48,1,1613 Whereas, the trimillennium will offer an opportunity to give expression to the
14firm commitment of the city of Jerusalem to keeping the city a place where all people
15are welcome to freely practice their faiths and visit the shrines that are holy to their
16religions; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the members of the
2Wisconsin legislature recognize the significance of King David naming Jerusalem as
3the eternal capital of the Jewish nation and wish to acknowledge the celebration of
4the city of Jerusalem's trimillennium; and, be it further
SJR48,2,6 5Resolved, That the senate chief clerk shall provide a copy of this joint
6resolution to the mayor of Jerusalem.
