AB367,1,2 1An Act to create 134.42 (2) (f) of the statutes; relating to: prohibiting certain
2billing practices by cable television companies.

Under this bill, a cable television service provider may not impose a late fee or
finance charge on a customer unless the service period to which the bill relates is
concluded and unless the provider reasonably believes that the subscriber received
the bill at least one month before payment is due. Also under the bill, no late payment
charge or finance charge may be greater than 7% of the amount of the bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB367, s. 1 3Section 1. 134.42 (2) (f) of the statutes is created to read:
AB367,1,54 134.42 (2) (f) 1. A cable operator may not impose on a subscriber a late payment
5charge or a finance charge unless all of the following apply:
AB367,1,66 a. The service period to which the bill relates is concluded.
AB367,1,87 b. The cable operator reasonably believes that the subscriber received the bill
8at least one month before payment is due.

12. No late payment charge or finance charge that may be imposed under subd.
21. may be greater than 7% of the amount of the bill.
