AB507,1,2 1An Act to create 287.81 (2) (e) of the statutes; relating to: notification of
2automobiles abandoned in the waters of the state.

Under current law, any person who fails to remove within 30 days or otherwise
abandons any automobile, boat or other vehicle in the waters of the state may be
required to forfeit not more than $500.
Under this bill, any person who fails to notify the local law enforcement agency
within 72 hours after abandoning any automobile in the waters of this state may be
required to forfeit not more than $500.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

5after abandoning any automobile, as defined in s. 340.01 (4) (b), in the waters of the

1(1) This act first applies to automobiles initially deposited in the waters of this
2state on the effective date of this subsection.
