AB567,1,3 1An Act to renumber 125.33 (2) (e); and to create 125.33 (2) (e) 2. and 125.33 (2)
2(p) of the statutes; relating to: the furnishing of dispensing equipment by
3brewers and wholesalers at certain tasting events held on Class "B" premises.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, with certain exceptions, no brewer or wholesaler may give
or sell anything of value to any retailer who is licensed to sell beer for consumption
on the premises where sold. One such exception allows a brewer or wholesaler to
furnish for tasting, free of charge, samples of beer to any person attending certain
alcohol retailer trade association business meetings.
This bill allows a brewer or wholesaler to have 3 or fewer representatives
present at a beer tasting event held on premises that are licensed to sell beer for
consumption on the premises. The bill also allows a brewer or beer wholesaler to
provide dispensing equipment, free of charge, for use by a retailer during a beer
tasting event. The bill requires the brewer or wholesaler to remove the dispensing
equipment from the premises at the end of the tasting event.
