AB617,1,3 1An Act to create 480.02 (2) (k) of the statutes; relating to: exempting certain
2persons who are not at least 18 years of age from auctioneer registration
3requirement.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, with certain exceptions, a person may not conduct an
auction unless he or she is registered as an auctioneer by the department of
regulation and licensing. To be registered, a person must satisfy certain
requirements, including being at least 18 years old and not having an arrest or
conviction record the circumstances of which substantially relate to conducting an
auction.
This bill creates an exemption from the registration requirement for a person
who is not at least 18 years old and who does not have an arrest or conviction record
the circumstances of which substantially relate to conducting an auction. The bill
allows such an unregistered person to call bids and otherwise assist at an auction
under the direct, on-site supervision of a registered auctioneer who is the person's
parent, stepparent, grandparent, brother, sister, uncle, aunt or legal guardian.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
