AJR35,1,43 Whereas, the health of the people of Wisconsin and their right to enjoy clean air
4and water is threatened by pollution of the environment; and
AJR35,1,75 Whereas, we are the custodians of the health of our children and of future
6generations, and must safeguard their ability to breathe clean air, drink healthful
7water and avoid poisons; and
AJR35,1,138 Whereas, a constitutional remedy to protect our environmental rights is
9warranted; while the American people have rightly been reluctant to amend the
10constitution except for the most compelling reasons, the commitment to the public
11health and environmental security of our citizens and of future generations is so
12important, and so deeply a part of American tradition and values, that it requires
13constitutional protection; now, therefore, be it
AJR35,1,16 14Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
15Wisconsin legislature request the Congress of the United States to consider the
16adoption of the following amendment to the U.S. Constitution:

1The natural resources of the nation are the heritage of present
2and future generations. The rights of each person to clean and
3healthful air and water, and to the protection of the other
4natural resources of the nation, shall not be infringed upon by
5any person; and, be it further
AJR35,2,8 6Resolved, That copies of this joint resolution be sent by the assembly chief
7clerk to the members of this state's congressional delegation, the clerk of the U.S.
8house of representatives and the secretary of the U.S. senate.
