Whereas, benefit specialists assist elderly persons in securing the public
3benefits that they are entitled to; and

Whereas, to that end benefit specialists provide information, assistance and
5representation; and

Whereas, these services are provided through county and tribal aging units
7supported by legal back-up provided through area agencies on aging, and all of these
8services are coordinated by the Bureau on Aging within the Wisconsin Department
9of Health and Family services; and

Whereas, these invaluable services are provided without charge; and

Whereas, benefit specialists deserve recognition for the advocacy that they
12provide for the elderly persons of this state; and

Whereas, the benefit specialists will be assembling for the Aging Network
14Training in October of this year; now, therefore, be it
