AJR72,1,32 Whereas, Thomas H. Coenen was born on February 27, 1934, and died on
3September 21, 1997, in McFarland, Wisconsin; and
AJR72,1,64 Whereas, he graduated from Edgewood High School, served in the 607th
5Armored Division Artillery Battalion and participated in Exercise Snowbird in
6Alaska; and
AJR72,1,87 Whereas, he served the Wisconsin Retail Gasoline Association as a member of
8the board of directors and as its executive vice president; and
AJR72,1,119 Whereas, Tom was a strong advocate for Wisconsin's tourism industry and a
10highly effective lobbyist for the groups, causes and associations that he represented
11as their lobbyist; and
AJR72,1,1412 Whereas, Tom enjoyed the respect and admiration of Wisconsin's entire
13lobbying community, members of the legislature, the executive branch, state
14agencies and staff members located throughout state government; and
AJR72,1,1715 Whereas, we have lost a valued friend and tireless advocate for the many causes
16he championed that contributed positively to the quality of life in Wisconsin; now,
17therefore, be it

1Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
2Wisconsin legislature commend Tom Coenen for his many years of devoted service
3to the organizations that he so effectively represented and for his service to the
4people of Wisconsin; express their sorrow at his death; and extend their condolences
5to his family and friends; and, be it further
AJR72,2,7 6Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
7resolution to Mr. Coenen's wife, Dorothy, and the members of his family.
