AR25,1,1 1Relating to: the life and public service of Rebecca Wallace.
AR25,1,32 Whereas, Rebecca Wallace, an exemplary employe of the Department of
3Natural Resources died on February 22, 1997; and
AR25,1,54 Whereas, Rebecca Wallace served the people of the state of Wisconsin long and
5faithfully in the performance of her duties; and
AR25,1,86 Whereas, Rebecca Wallace earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues
7at the Department of Natural Resources for her commitment, energy and dedication
8to her staff; and
AR25,1,119 Whereas, Rebecca Wallace's work on the Priority Watersheds Program at the
10Department of Natural Resources was the basis of the Nonpoint Water Quality Act;
11and
AR25,1,1512 Whereas, Rebecca Wallace's career and advancement through the ranks of the
13department to a position of high responsibility and visibility as a relatively young
14woman serve as an inspiration to professional women in the fields of environmental
15engineering and natural resources management; and

1Whereas, Rebecca Wallace was dedicated to her husband and 3 children and
2maintained this commitment even as she faced the demands of a professional career;
3and
AR25,2,64 Whereas, Rebecca Wallace exhibited the rare ability to bring diverse groups of
5people together to work effectively toward common goals and use this ability to
6contribute greatly to the fulfillment of the department's mission; and
AR25,2,137 Whereas, the Natural Resources Board, at its February 1997 meeting in
8Madison, Wisconsin, recognized such faithful service with due respect and gratitude
9and established the Rebecca Wallace Memorial Award for departmental staff, to be
10awarded annually to the employe making the greatest contribution toward either the
11improvement of relationships with external partner agencies and organizations on
12shared environmental quality issues or the mentoring of department staff; now,
13therefore, be it
AR25,2,16 14Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
15salute the remarkable career of Rebecca Wallace, express their sorrow at her death
16and extend their condolences to her family; and, be it further
AR25,2,18 17Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide a copy of this resolution
18to Rebecca Wallace's children.
