2directional signs.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law authorizes the erection of highway signs providing identification
of and directional information for tourist-related businesses, services or activities.
The signs may be erected within the rights-of-way of certain highways outside of
urban areas. To qualify for display on such a sign, a business offering food, in
addition to meeting other requirements, must be in regular operation at least 5 days
a week, opening for business no later than 10 a.m. and remaining open until at least
7 p.m.
Under this bill, a supper club may be displayed on such signs even if the supper
club is not open for business from at least 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. All other eligibility
requirements continue to apply to supper clubs.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
