1An Act relating to: a study of the aquaculture industry and making an
2appropriation.

This bill requires the department of agriculture, trade and consumer protection
to conduct a study of the aquaculture industry in this state.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

Aquaculture study. The department of agriculture, trade and consumer
5protection shall conduct a study of the aquaculture industry in this state and, no
6later than January 1, 1999, shall submit a report on the results of the study to the
7legislature in the manner provided under section 13.172 (2) of the statutes. The
8report shall include information concerning all of the following:

1(a) The growth of the aquaculture industry since 1994.

(b) The demand for aquaculture products.

(c) The processing of aquacultural products.

(d) Investment activities in aquaculture.

Aquaculture. In the schedule under section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for
8the appropriation to the department of agriculture, trade and consumer protection
9under section 20.115 (3) (a) of the statutes, as affected by the acts of 1997, the dollar
10amount is increased by $50,000 for fiscal year 1997-98 and the dollar amount is
11increased by $20,000 for fiscal year 1998-99 to provide funding for a study of the
12aquaculture industry and limited term personnel for activities related to
13aquaculture.
