SB40,1,2 1An Act to amend 62.23 (1) (b) of the statutes; relating to: the election of certain
2persons to a city, village or town planning commission.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, cities may create a city plan commission. The purpose of the
commission is to adopt a master plan for the physical development of the city. The
commission consists of the mayor, the city engineer, the president of the park board,
an alderperson and 3 citizens. The alderperson member of the commission is elected
by a two-thirds vote of the common council. Also under current law, villages and
certain towns that are authorized to exercise village powers may create a plan
commission that is based on the statutes used by cities.
Under this bill, the alderperson member of the commission is elected by a
majority vote of the common council. This change also applies to villages and certain
towns that are authorized to exercise village powers.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB40, s. 1 3Section 1. 62.23 (1) (b) of the statutes is amended to read:
