SB435,1,2 1An Act to create 293.67 of the statutes; relating to: the discharge of wastewater
2from a sulfide mine.

This bill prohibits the discharge of wastewater from the mining of an ore body
that contains metals and sulfide minerals into the Wisconsin River or any of its
tributaries.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB435, s. 1 3Section 1. 293.67 of the statutes is created to read:
SB435,1,6 4293.67 Discharge of mining wastewater into Wisconsin River. (1) In
5this section, "sulfide ore body" means a mineral deposit in which metals are mixed
6with sulfide minerals.
SB435,1,8 7(2) No person may discharge wastewater from the mining of a sulfide ore body
8into the Wisconsin River or any of its tributaries.

1(3) This section applies without regard to the date of submission of a permit
2application under s. 293.37.
