SB462,1,2 1An Act to amend 115.28 (11) of the statutes; relating to: requirements for driver
2education courses.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law directs the state superintendent of public instruction to approve
driver education courses offered by school districts, county children with disabilities
education boards and technical college districts and to establish minimum standards
for driver education courses offered in private schools. All driver education courses
must acquaint each student with the hazards posed by farm machinery and animals
on highways and provide instruction in safely dealing with such hazards.
This bill also requires driver education courses to acquaint each student with
the hazards posed by railroad grade crossings and to provide instruction in safely
dealing with such hazards.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

4(Senate Bill 384), is amended to read:
SB462,2,65 115.28 (11) Driver education courses. Approve driver education courses
6offered by school districts, county children with disabilities education boards and

1technical college districts for the purposes of ss. 121.41 (1) and 343.16 (1) (c) 1. and
2establish minimum standards for driver education courses offered in private schools
3for the purposes of s. 343.16 (1) (c) 3. All driver education courses approved or for
4which standards are established under this subsection shall acquaint each student
5with the hazards posed by farm machinery and animals on highways and by railroad
6grade crossings
and shall provide instruction in safely dealing with such hazards.
