SB488,1,2 1An Act to create 100.183 (4) of the statutes; relating to: representations
2concerning cheese.

This bill prohibits a person from representing that cheese is Wisconsin cheese
or is from Wisconsin unless the cheese is manufactured in this state. A violation of
this prohibition is punishable by a fine of up to $200 or imprisonment for up to 6
months or both.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB488, s. 1 3Section 1. 100.183 (4) of the statutes is created to read:
SB488,1,64 100.183 (4) No person may represent that cheese is Wisconsin cheese or is from
5or made in Wisconsin unless the cheese is manufactured in this state. Drying,
6grating, cutting or packaging cheese does not constitute manufacturing.

1(1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 6th month beginning after
