SB499,1,2 1An Act relating to: funding for the statewide immunization program and
2making an appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, the department of health and family services (DHFS)
administers a statewide immunization program for children. Under the program
DHFS provides the vaccines without charge upon the request of a school board or
local health department to the extent that state and federal funds are available. In
administering the statewide immunization program, DHFS also distributes to local
entities participating in the program grants funded under federal vaccines for
children programs.
This bill provides $1,000,000 in fiscal year 1997-98 to DHFS to supplement the
federal funding for grants distributed under the statewide immunization program.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
SB499, s. 1 3Section 1. Appropriation changes.
SB499,2,34 (1) Statewide immunization program infrastructure. In the schedule under
5section 20.005 (3) of the statutes for the appropriation to the department of health

1and family services under section 20.435 (1) (a) of the statutes, as affected by the acts
2of 1997, the dollar amount is increased by $1,000,000 for fiscal year 1997-98 to
3supplement the federal funding for immunization action plan grants.
