1An Act to amend 343.43 (1) (f) of the statutes;
relating to: duplicating a motor
2vehicle operating license.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Current law prohibits any person from duplicating, by any means whatever, a
driver's license. Penalties for a violation range from a mandatory minimum
forfeiture of $200 for a first offense, up to a maximum penalty of a $2,000 fine and
imprisonment for six months for a third or subsequent offense within three years.
This bill creates an exception to this prohibition. The bill allows a person to
reproduce a copy of a driver's license if the reproduction is done according to rules
promulgated by the department of transportation and for a valid business or
occupational purpose.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
