AB432,1,3 1An Act to amend 36.27 (1) (a); and to create 36.27 (1) (b) and 38.24 (4m) of the
2statutes; relating to: auditing University of Wisconsin System and technical
3college system courses by persons who are 60 years of age or older.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the board of regents of the University of Wisconsin System
and the technical college system board to allow a Wisconsin resident who is 60 years
of age or older to audit a course without paying an auditor's fee if space is available
in the course and the instructor approves.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB432, s. 1 4Section 1. 36.27 (1) (a) of the statutes is amended to read:
AB432,2,45 36.27 (1) (a) Subject to par. pars. (b) and (c), the board may establish for
6different classes of students differing tuition and fees incidental to enrollment in
7educational programs or use of facilities in the system. Except as otherwise provided

1in this section, the board may charge any student who is not exempted by this section
2a nonresident tuition. The board may establish special rates of tuition and fees for
3the extension and summer sessions and such other studies or courses of instruction
4as the board deems advisable.
AB432, s. 2 5Section 2. 36.27 (1) (b) of the statutes is created to read:
AB432,2,96 36.27 (1) (b) The board shall permit a person who is 60 years of age or older to
7audit a course without paying an auditor's fee if the person is a resident of this state,
8as determined under sub. (2) (e), space is available in the course and the instructor
9approves.
AB432, s. 3 10Section 3. 38.24 (4m) of the statutes is created to read:
AB432,2,1411 38.24 (4m) Auditor's fee exemption. The board shall permit a person who is
1260 years of age or older to audit a course without paying an auditor's fee if the person
13is a resident of this state, as determined by the board by rule, space is available in
14the course and the instructor approves.
