Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Currently, the chief clerk of each house of the legislature is directed to promptly
send copies of all legislative documents to each county clerk and to the Milwaukee
County Law Library. Each county clerk is then directed to keep these documents
open to public inspection in the clerk's office.
This bill provides instead for the chief clerks to promptly send copies of all
legislative documents to each county clerk or to the Milwaukee County Law Library
upon request of the clerk or library. The bill also directs each county clerk who elects
to receive the documents to keep them open to public inspection in the clerk's office.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
