AJR40,1,1 1Relating to: the life and public service of Patricia A. Goodrich.
AJR40,1,32 Whereas, Patricia A. Goodrich was born on January 13, 1933, in Jefferson City,
3Missouri, and died on March 21, 1999, in Gold Canyon, Arizona; and
AJR40,1,54 Whereas, she was educated in Missouri public schools and attended Jefferson
5City Junior College and Park College in Parkville, Missouri; and
AJR40,1,76 Whereas, she married Philo "Bud" Goodrich and raised her family in Wisconsin;
7and
AJR40,1,108 Whereas, she was first elected to the assembly in 1974, and served as
9representative of the 72nd assembly district, including portions of Waushara, Green
10Lake and Fond du Lac counties, for 5 terms; and
AJR40,1,1111 Whereas, she was elected minority caucus secretary in 1979 and 1981; and
AJR40,1,1512 Whereas, she pursued her interest in educational issues throughout her
13legislative career through her service on various assembly education committees and
14on legislative council special committees on education and school dropout
15prevention; and

1Whereas, she was appointed by Governor Thompson as secretary of health and
2social service in September 1988 and served in that capacity until December 1990;
3and
AJR40,2,74 Whereas, she served as a project director for studies of children's issues,
5especially children living in poverty, on behalf of the Wisconsin council on human
6concerns and other organizations which issued a series of reports called "WisKids
7Count"; and
AJR40,2,98 Whereas, she exhibited an interest in education and the well-being of children
9throughout her career; now, therefore, be it
AJR40,2,13 10Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the members of the
11Wisconsin legislature commend the devoted public service that Patricia A. Goodrich
12gave to this state, express their sorrow at her death and extend condolences to her
13family and friends; and, be it further
AJR40,2,16 14Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall provide copies of this joint
15resolution to Mrs. Goodrich's husband, Philo ("Bud"); and her sons Phil, Jim and
16John.
