AJR61,1,43 Whereas, the People's Republic of China imposes duties or tariffs of 45% and
4up to 17.5% value added tax upon imported Wisconsin ginseng; and
AJR61,1,65 Whereas, ginseng entering the United States from the People's Republic of
6China is not assessed any duties or tariffs or value added tax; and
AJR61,1,87 Whereas, the ginseng producers of Wisconsin have suffered great loss due to
8unfair trade practices with the People's Republic of China; now, therefore, be it
AJR61,1,13 9Resolved by the assembly, the senate concurring, That the Wisconsin
10legislature requests that the Wisconsin Congressional Delegation act in the best
11interest of Wisconsin and the United States of America and work to end trade
12barriers imposed on Wisconsin ginseng by the People's Republic of China; and, be it

15resolution to the president and secretary of the U.S. senate, to the speaker and clerk

1of the U.S. house of representatives and to each member of the congressional
2delegation from this state attesting the adoption of this joint resolution by the 1999
3legislature of the state of Wisconsin.
