AR17,1,42 Whereas, Nigerian Community in Milwaukee, Inc., was started in 1970 to
3provide cultural and educational programs for the Milwaukee area and to promote
4the art, culture, heritage and overall development of Nigeria; and
AR17,1,65 Whereas, the Federal Republic of Nigeria gained its independence on October
61, 1960; and
AR17,1,87 Whereas, Nigeria is the largest country in Africa, with nearly 100,000,000
8people of diverse cultural heritage; and
AR17,1,119 Whereas, Nigerians' independence day is being celebrated in Milwaukee by the
10holding of Nigeria Day, a celebration of Nigerian heritage and culture, on October 2,
111999; and
AR17,1,1412 Whereas, Nigerian Community in Milwaukee, Inc., is organizing this special
13event and is inviting all to experience the rich traditions, food and dances for which
14the people of Nigeria are well-known; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the Wisconsin assembly
2proclaim October 2, 1999, as Nigeria Day, and wish all that attend the Nigeria Day
3festivities fine weather and an enjoyable time; and, be it further
AR17,2,5 4Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall send a copy of this resolution to
5the Nigerian Community in Milwaukee, Inc.
