Whereas, Joseph E. Wimmer has served our nation, our state and the people
4of Waukesha County with honor and distinction since joining the United States
5Army in 1954; and

Whereas, Judge Wimmer's passion for law and justice led him to begin his legal
7career as Muskego's assistant city attorney, to accept a promotion as Waukesha
8County's assistant district attorney and to utilize his legal knowledge and expertise
9as a Waukesha County circuit court judge for the last 8 years; and

Whereas, Representative Wimmer was elected to the state assembly in 1982 to
11represent the citizens of Wisconsin's 32nd Assembly District and gained a reputation
12for being fair, honest and a tireless advocate for his constituents; and

Whereas, during his tenure in the assembly, Joe Wimmer distinguished himself
14as a leader among his colleagues in the areas of constitutional law and tax policy by
1serving as the ranking minority member on the Assembly Committee on Ways and
2Means; and

Whereas, Joe Wimmer's commitment to community service led him to serve as
4the president of the Waukesha Noon Lions Club and international director of the
5International Association of Lions Clubs; now, therefore, be it

6Resolved by the assembly, That the members of the assembly commend
7Joseph E. Wimmer for his lifelong commitment to public service and the people of
8Waukesha, Wisconsin, and the United States and wish Joe and his wife, Sue, a
9well-deserved retirement filled with happiness and joy; and, be it further

10Resolved, That the assembly chief clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution
11to Judge Wimmer.
