AR4,1,3 1Relating to: denouncing the hate-filled messages of the Ku Klux Klan and
2commending the citizens of the city of Madison and others who take part in
3rejecting the hate-filled messages of the Ku Klux Klan.
AR4,1,54 Whereas, Madison, Wisconsin, is a city with a long history of ethnic and racial
5harmony and diversity and was named "The best city to live in" in 1996; and
AR4,1,86 Whereas, the Ku Klux Klan plans to hold a rally in Madison on January 16,
71999, to spread its racist, homophobic, anti-Catholic and anti-Semitic messages;

AR4,1,109 Whereas, the purpose of the rally is to seek publicity for its message of
10intolerance, to breed animosity and to divide the community; and
AR4,1,1211 Whereas, concerned citizens and organizations plan on holding a
12counterdemonstration on January 16, 1999; and
AR4,1,1513 Whereas, the counterdemonstration will provide a peaceful forum for citizens
14who reject hate-group tactics and embrace the strength that comes from a diverse
15community; now, therefore, be it

1Resolved by the assembly, That the assembly hereby denounces the
2hate-filled messages of the Ku Klux Klan; and, be it further
AR4,2,5 3Resolved, That the assembly commends the citizens of the city of Madison,
4and others who take part in rejecting the hate-filled messages of the Ku Klux Klan,
5in their efforts to build bridges of brotherhood, understanding and mutual respect.
