Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill provides that, beginning in 2000, no public school may commence its
school term until after September 1. The bill specifies that the prohibition does not
prevent a school board from holding athletic contests or practices before that date,
scheduling in-service days or work days before that date or holding school
year-round.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
