1999 - 2000 LEGISLATURE
November 2, 1999 - Introduced by Senator Darling, cosponsored by
Representative La Fave. Referred to Committee on Economic Development,
Housing and Government Operations.
SB271,1,2 1An Act to amend 66.96 (2) of the statutes; relating to: changing the definition
2of noxious weeds.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
Under current law, noxious weeds are defined to include Canada thistle, leafy
spurge, field bindweed and any other weed that a city, village, town or county defines
to be noxious within its boundaries. Current law requires every person to destroy
all noxious weeds on all lands that the person owns, occupies or controls. Current
law also requires a highway patrolman on all federal, state and county highways to
destroy all noxious weeds on the portion of such highways that the highway
patrolman patrols.
This bill adds "garlic mustard" to the definition of noxious weeds that must be
destroyed.
For further information see the state and local fiscal estimate, which will be
printed as an appendix to this bill.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
