SJR10,1,2 1Relating to: commending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for its
2contributions to the quality of life in Wisconsin over the past 125 years.
SJR10,1,53 Whereas, in 1874 a State Normal School was established in River Falls to train
4teachers for northwestern Wisconsin, making the school the fifth public higher
5education institution in the new State of Wisconsin; and
SJR10,1,106 Whereas, through the past 125 years, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls
7has taken tremendous strides as a comprehensive institution of higher learning to
8expand its educational offerings to more than 40 undergraduate and graduate
9programs in education, the sciences, humanities, liberal arts, business and
10agriculture; and
SJR10,1,1311 Whereas, its student body has expanded from a few hundred men and women
12attending classes in a single building to a population now numbering more than
135,600 persons on a campus of 25 buildings; and

1Whereas, the institution's educational and social impact can be measured in the
2value of its curricular offerings, in its quality teaching, in the significance of its
3research endeavors, and in the prominence of its outreach and service; and
SJR10,2,54 Whereas, through the expertise and dedication of its faculty and staff, its
5colleges and school have gained a select national reputation for excellence; and
SJR10,2,96 Whereas, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls has welcomed and educated
7exceptional generations of men and women who, as alumni, have asserted an
8extraordinary impact on the social, cultural, economic and political life of the State
9of Wisconsin, the United States of America, and the world; now, therefore, be it
SJR10,2,15 10Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin
11legislature commends and congratulates the students, faculty, staff, alumni and
12friends of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for their contributions to the
13quality of life in Wisconsin over the past 125 years, and looks forward with
14enthusiasm to the University community's future in fulfilling its historic mission of
15education, research and outreach to the betterment of our State and its people.
