SJR10,1,2 Relating to: commending the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for its contributions to the quality of life in Wisconsin over the past 125 years.

SJR10,1,5 Whereas, in 1874 a State Normal School was established in River Falls to train teachers for northwestern Wisconsin, making the school the fifth public higher education institution in the new State of Wisconsin; and

SJR10,1,10 Whereas, through the past 125 years, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls has taken tremendous strides as a comprehensive institution of higher learning to expand its educational offerings to more than 40 undergraduate and graduate programs in education, the sciences, humanities, liberal arts, business and agriculture; and

SJR10,1,13 Whereas, its student body has expanded from a few hundred men and women attending classes in a single building to a population now numbering more than 5,600 persons on a campus of 25 buildings; and

SJR10,2,3 Whereas, the institution's educational and social impact can be measured in the value of its curricular offerings, in its quality teaching, in the significance of its research endeavors, and in the prominence of its outreach and service; and

SJR10,2,5 Whereas, through the expertise and dedication of its faculty and staff, its colleges and school have gained a select national reputation for excellence; and

SJR10,2,9 Whereas, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls has welcomed and educated exceptional generations of men and women who, as alumni, have asserted an extraordinary impact on the social, cultural, economic and political life of the State of Wisconsin, the United States of America, and the world; now, therefore, be it

SJR10,2,15 Resolved by the senate, the assembly concurring, That the Wisconsin legislature commends and congratulates the students, faculty, staff, alumni and friends of the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for their contributions to the quality of life in Wisconsin over the past 125 years, and looks forward with enthusiasm to the University community's future in fulfilling its historic mission of education, research and outreach to the betterment of our State and its people.
