Currently, the secretary of employment relations (secretary) may reclassify
positions in the state civil service system. Reclassification consists in the assignment
of a filled position to a different class in the state civil service system. This bill
prohibits the secretary from reclassifying any civil service position until the
secretary gives the incumbent holding the position at least 30 days' written notice
that the position is to be reclassified.
For further information see the state fiscal estimate, which will be printed as
an appendix to this bill.
