AB87,1,2 1An Act to create 110.105 of the statutes; relating to: prohibiting the
2installation of computer chips on vehicles for purposes of collecting revenues.

This bill prohibits the Department of Transportation from enforcing or
administering any law or administrative rule that requires or permits installation
of a computer chip on a vehicle to determine the mileage of the vehicle for the purpose
of collecting revenues from the vehicle owner in lieu of, or in addition to, the collection
of motor vehicle fuel taxes. Under current law, the revenue from motor vehicle fuel
taxes is credited to the transportation fund.
The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB87, s. 1 3Section 1. 110.105 of the statutes is created to read:
AB87,2,2 4110.105 Vehicles; computer chip prohibition. The department is
5prohibited from administering or enforcing any law, or promulgating any rule, that
6requires or permits a vehicle to be installed with a computer chip to determine the

1mileage of the vehicle for the purpose of collecting revenues from the owner of the
2vehicle in lieu of or in addition to motor vehicle fuel taxes collected under ch. 78.
