AB880,1,3 1An Act to create 20.143 (1) (bn) and 560.03 (24) of the statutes; relating to:
2creating an economic development program website and making an
3appropriation.
Analysis by the Legislative Reference Bureau
This bill requires the Department of Commerce to create a website that allows
access to information concerning every economic development program available in
this state. In addition, the department must develop a website template which
chambers of commerce in this state may customize to meet the needs of the areas that
they serve and which is directly linked to a statewide data base.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:

3schedule to develop the economic development programs website under s. 560.03 (24)

AB880,3,85 560.03 (24) Make information about all economic development programs in
6this state available on a website that is accessible through the Internet by any
7member of the public. The information shall cover any economic development
8program established under state or federal law or municipal ordinances and shall be
9organized in a manner that enhances the accessibility of the information. The
10website shall be organized in a manner that allows a user to search for a general
11listing of available programs and also for specific programs based on the type of
12business, how long a business has been operating, the financial needs of the business,
13the numbers of persons employed by a business, and other related information. The
14website shall include an interface for out-of-state businesses that may relocate to
15this state and shall provide a means by which an out-of-state business may receive
16information specific to that business; an interface for entrepreneurs who may start
17a business in this state and which includes access to information regarding
18managerial training, business plans, and financing; and an interface for businesses
19that may expand their operations in this state and which includes access to

1information regarding state assistance and economic development programs that
2are relevant to that business. The department shall develop a website template for
3use by chambers of commerce in this state, which a chamber of commerce may
4customize to meet the needs of the area served by the chamber of commerce,
5including providing links to local units of government and local economic
6development programs, and which is directly linked to a statewide data base that
7may be searched for a general listing of available programs and for specific programs
8based on specific business information as described in this subsection.
