AB93,1,2 1An Act to create 167.08 of the statutes; relating to: requiring alarm systems
2for sellers of firearms and providing a penalty.

This bill prohibits any person from offering to sell firearms to the public, unless
the place of business where the firearms are offered for sale is equipped with an
electronic system that is designed to monitor the place of business for the presence
of, detect and summon aid for, or issue an alarm as a result of, an unauthorized
intrusion. The prohibition does not apply, however, to an individual who offers to sell
firearms at his or her residence.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB93, s. 1 3Section 1. 167.08 of the statutes is created to read:
AB93,1,6 4167.08 Alarm systems for sellers of firearms. (1) Definition. In this
5section, "firearm" means a weapon that is designed to act by force of gunpowder to
6fire a projectile.

1(2) Alarm system required. Except as provided under sub. (3), no person may
2offer to sell firearms to the public unless the place of business where the firearms are
3offered for sale is equipped with an electronic system that is designed to do any of the
4following:
AB93,2,55 (a) Monitor the place of business for the presence of an unauthorized intrusion.
AB93,2,66 (b) Detect and summon aid for an unauthorized intrusion.
AB93,2,77 (c) Issue an alarm as a result of an unauthorized intrusion.
AB93,2,9 8(3) Exception. Subsection (2) does not apply to an individual who offers to sell
9firearms at the individual's residence.
AB93,2,11 10(4) Penalty. A person who violates sub. (2) may be required to forfeit not less
11than $100 nor more than $500.
AB93, s. 2 12Section 2. Effective date.
AB93,2,1413 (1) This act takes effect on the first day of the 6th month beginning after
14publication.
