AB954,1,2 1An Act to create 84.1036 of the statutes; relating to: designating and marking
2USH 45 as the Wisconsin Labor Highway.

This bill directs the Department of Transportation (DOT) to designate the
entire route in this state of USH 45 from the Wisconsin-Illinois border to the
Wisconsin-Michigan border as the "Wisconsin Labor Highway" in recognition and
appreciation of the contributions and achievements of organized labor to the
economic well-being, health, and welfare of the state's citizens.
The bill directs DOT to erect and maintain signs that mark the designated route
upon receipt of sufficient funds, other than state funds, from interested parties to
cover the cost of erecting and maintaining the markers.

The people of the state of Wisconsin, represented in senate and assembly, do
enact as follows:
AB954, s. 1 3Section 1. 84.1036 of the statutes is created to read:
AB954,2,3 484.1036 Wisconsin Labor Highway. (1) The department shall designate the
5route of USH 45, extending from the Wisconsin-Illinois border to the

1Wisconsin-Michigan border, as the "Wisconsin Labor Highway" in recognition and
2appreciation of the contributions and achievements of organized labor to the
3economic well-being, health, and welfare of the citizens of this state.
AB954,2,10 4(2) Upon receipt of sufficient contributions from interested parties, including
5any county, city, village, or town, to cover the cost of erecting and maintaining
6markers along the route specified in sub. (1) to clearly identify to motorists the
7designation of the route as the "Wisconsin Labor Highway," the department shall
8erect and maintain the markers. No state funds, other than from the receipt of
9contributions under this subsection, may be expended for the erection or
10maintenance of the markers.
